Oscar Awards Now Allows Movies Made with AI 😳
Hollywood is at a crossroads with AI, and the Oscars officially picked a side this week.🔥
Welcome Back Everyone! It’s Friday, April 25th. (& I’m exciteddd)
Do You Know?
OpenAI Open to Buying Chrome if Google Sells
OpenAI says it would buy Google Chrome if it were up for sale. This came out during Google's antitrust trial, where the U.S. may push Google to sell Chrome. OpenAI sees Chrome as a fast track to making the first AI-first browser. It’s already hired key ex-Chrome engineers to build its own version.
Chrome controls browser access for billions. If OpenAI owns it, AI integration moves from tool to gateway. It will change how users search, shop, and work.

Oscar Awards Now Allows Movies Made with AI 🤯

Hollywood is at a crossroads with AI, and the Oscars officially picked a side this week.
Over the past year, generative AI has transformed filmmaking, slipping quietly onto movie sets and into editing rooms across Hollywood. Big-budget films like The Brutalist, Dune: Part Two, and Emilia Pérez openly used AI to polish performances and enhance visuals, launching countless debates about authenticity and creative integrity in filmmaking.
Stars like Demi Moore have faced backlash simply for experimenting with AI-generated images online, showing just how intense this debate has become.
Now, the Academy itself—Hollywood’s oldest institution—has finally weighed in.
Their new guidelines clarify that AI tools neither improve nor diminish a film’s chances at winning an Oscar, but importantly, they emphasize that human creativity remains paramount.
Simply put, while AI is officially permitted, the Academy will reward the films most shaped by human hands and minds.
But why did the Academy make this decision, and why did they decide to do it now?
The truth is, the Academy likely had no other option.
AI is already everywhere in filmmaking, from subtle performance tweaks and sound editing to visual effects and color grading. Trying to police or exclude its use would be virtually impossible, not to mention forcing the Oscars into irrelevance by disqualifying nearly every modern production.
In other words, the Academy's move may have been more about survival than anything else.
The Oscars have spoken, but this is just the opening act. Hollywood (and the rest of us) will have to grapple with a bigger question in the years to come:
Can art remain human when artificial intelligence plays a significant role in creating it?
Ready or not, we’re about to find out.
Tool Talk: Perfect Dictation on iPhone 🪄

Use Case: Replace Siri with Better AI Dictation Tools
Why you should care: This iOS shortcut, created and shared by Luke Harries on X/Twitter, uses AI tools from ElevenLabs and OpenAI to add speech-to-text dictation to your phone that actually works. (Sorry, Siri. We're just...not that into you.)
If you're tired of waiting around for Apple to upgrade your iPhone, take things into your own hands with this shortcut!
Here's how you set it up:
Click the link above while using an iOS device to add the shortcut to your Apple Shortcuts.
Go to ElevenLabs' platform, sign in or create an account, and create your ElevenLabs API key. (Select your name in the bottom left to bring up your profile, then select "API Keys", and then select "Generate Key")
Add the ElevenLabs API key into the iOS Shortcut here:
4. Go to OpenAI's Platform, sign in or create an account, and create your OpenAI API key. (Select your avatar in the top right to go to your Profile settings, then look to the lefthand sidebar to find "API Keys" under "Organization" heading and select that, finally hit "Create New Secret Key" to get your API key)
Add the OpenAI API key to the iOS Shortcut here:
6. Change your iOS device's Action button to use the Shortcut you just set up!
Now, whenever you press the Action button on your iOS device, the best available AI tools in the world will work together to ensure your dictation is accurate.
So long, Siri!
Note that this Shortcut isn't entirely free--you'll be paying for what you use with the APIs, but the pricing is incredibly cheap, and you have full control over how much you spend, rather than signing up for a subscription service.
Prompt of the Week 📝

Topic: Use ChatGPT's New Memory Upgrade to Imitate Yourself Perfectly
Prompt Formula:
Based on our chat history and your memories of me, emulate my thinking and speaking style back to me in a rambling stream of consciousness about [TOPIC].
Quick Description:
ChatGPT recently received a powerful Memory upgrade, enabling it to reference nearly ALL of your previous chats. This prompt takes advantage of that upgrade, showcasing just how well the new ChatGPT can imitate your unique style. Enter any topic you're passionate about and see ChatGPT produce an uncanny, rambling stream of consciousness that feels exactly like you wrote it yourself.
How to Use:
Ensure Memories are enabled for ChatGPT.
Copy the above prompt and paste it into ChatGPT's chat box.
Insert a topic you're passionate about into the [TOPIC] variable.
Send the prompt!
You can use this to test out ChatGPT's capabilities, or you can repurpose it to learn about something new. Rather than putting in a topic you're passionate about, try putting in something you know nothing about yet. ChatGPT will ramble on about it like a friend trying to get you into a new thing.
This one is a lot of fun to use, so go give it a try!
Note: If you're a complete beginner and not sure where to start, I have a special Notion template called "How to Craft a Prompt"[ Step-By-Step ] just for you. Click the button below to get this FREE template! 🔖
