🫢 Is OpenAI quietly becoming a healthcare company?

Prior to OpenAI, both Google and Apple have been making significant advancements using LLMs in the healthcare industry.

Welcome Back Everyone! It’s Friday, May 16th. (& I’m exciteddd)

Do You Know?

OpenAI Launches Real-World AI Health Test

OpenAI released HealthBench, a new open-source test that checks how well AI models handle real medical conversations. It uses 5,000 cases graded by doctors across 60 countries. The goal is to measure safety and accuracy in everyday use, not exam-style questions. HealthBench gives hospitals and developers a clearer way to check if AI is ready for clinical use.

  1. AI Spotlight: Microsoft Lays Off 3% of Global Workforce in AI-Driven Restructuring šŸ¤Æ

Days with a Lot of Tears - Microsoft 🤯

Why it matters:
Microsoft just laid off nearly 3% of its workforce (about 6,000 people!) in its biggest round of job cuts since early 2023. That’s despite the company posting strong earnings and a bullish outlook.

So why the layoffs?

Because the future is arriving faster than expected.

Microsoft is spending $80 billion this fiscal year to build out the infrastructure for its AI ambitions, while the company didn’t say AI caused these layoffs, it’s clear AI is reshaping what tech giants need to stay competitive.

Many of the cuts hit software engineers and product managers. That’s the same group CEO Satya Nadella recently said is increasingly working alongside AI tools that now write 20 to 30 percent of the code for some Microsoft projects. You don’t need as many hands on keyboards when Copilot is handling part of the heavy lifting.

But it’s not just engineers. These layoffs affected every level and team, with a particular focus on trimming management. In this new world where AI accelerates productivity and coordination, Microsoft feels it can achieve its goals with fewer people involved.

These are not the moves of a struggling company. They’re the moves of a company reorganising itself around a new technological foundation.

The timelines are shifting. We knew AI would drive layoffs and force major realignments at massive companies.

What we didn’t expect was how quickly it would happen. But here we are.

So continue to keep up with the news (especially what's going on in AI!) and stay adaptable.

Adaptability is the best ability in these times of rapid change and rampant uncertainty.

Tool Talk: Manus AI Agent šŸŖ„

Use Case: Fully Autonomous AI Task Execution

Why you should care:
Manus is one of the best AI agents in the world, capable of planning, executing, and finishing entire tasks on your behalf. Give it a goal like ā€œbuild a marketing dashboardā€ or ā€œwrite a competitive research report,ā€ and Manus will split the work into subtasks, run them with specialist agents, and deliver you a complete, usable output.

Manus officially launched in March 2025, but access was very limited, and users were required to sign up for a lengthy waitlist to use the AI Agent.

This week that finally changed! Manus now gives all new users 1000 free credits, plus all users now get 300 credits that refresh daily.

Here's how to try Manus AI agent right now:

  1. Go to Manus' platform using the link above.

  2. Create an account or sign in using a Google account.

  3. Type a prompt in the chat box to give Manus AI a task to work on.

  4. Optional: give Manus files to work with by selecting the paperclip icon in the chat box. You can upload photos, text files, PDFs, spreadsheets, and more.

  5. Hit the Send button and Manus will begin working on the task!

Manus is best for users who want to offload complex, multi-step tasks without constant prompting. It’s not instant (tasks can take 30–60 minutes), and it’s not built for quick answers.

Also, our test involved turning a detailed PDF into a working website, and that test alone cost over 400 credits, so be aware that you won't be able to do too much with Manus using just the free credits.

So go give Manus a try today and see what this AI agent can do for you!
