😳 FOMO is Real

After OpenAI and Google, Microsoft has announced a new Recall upgrade for Copilot AI. Maybe it's too much?🔥

Welcome! It’s Friday, May 24th.

Do you know?🤔The UK has passed new legislation to pave the way for self-driving cars on public roads by 2026.The Automated Vehicles Act establishes a regulatory framework, including a system for approving self-driving vehicles and holding the "authorised self-driving entity" responsible in the event of an accident, rather than the human driver.

Copilot to Browse your PC’s history 🤯

Microsoft has announced a new AI-powered feature for Windows 11 called 'Recall' that will record everything users do on their PCs.

Officials looking to Microsoft's new AI 'Recall' feature as privacy experts sound alarm

Why it Matters?Microsoft must have felt left out amidst all the hype surrounding GPT-4o's release and Google's I/O conference, because on Monday of this week they made huge announcements involving Windows and Copilot AI.

Microsoft is integrating the Copilot AI assistant directly into the Windows operating system. This upgrade will bring a ton of new features and updates to Windows, but one stands out from the rest: the new AI-enabled Windows Recall.

Recall is designed to give Copilot a 'photographic memory' of all your digital activities. Recall will track everything you do on your PC—from browsing the web to using your apps and everything in between. Users can utilise this power to search and retrieve anything they've done on their device during the day.

Another benefit Recall offers is that giving Copilot this info does make it much better at anticipating your needs. Copilot will know what you've been working on all day and can use that context to better assist you.

Microsoft assures users that they can filter what gets tracked and that all tracking will remain on the device to protect privacy.

The new Recall feature raises critical questions: Are we comfortable with this level of AI integration? Do we trust Microsoft to handle the vast amounts of personal data required for these features?

Despite their assurances of data security, past experiences with data leaks remind us that no system is infallible. Before you give your private info to Microsoft, Google, or any big tech companies, ask yourself: am I confident my data will stay safe?

Chatter by Hume AI 🪄

Use Case: Create a podcast with an AI cohost

Why you should care?Chatter from Hume AI puts you on the mic with an AI cohost, letting the two of you collaborate to record a podcast about the latest news.

Chatter searches the web for top stories of the day and presents them to you as if you're cohosting a news podcast. Then you get to dive into the story you like best from any angle, exploring current events with the AI.

Chatter is designed for quick, back-and-forth conversations, making it perfect for a dynamic news podcast format. You can also interrupt it while it's speaking, interjecting just like you would in a real conversation. This helps add a ton of spontaneity and flow to your discussions.

Here's how to get started:

  1. Click the link above to use Chatter for free. You don't even need to sign in, just make sure the page has access to your microphone.

  2. Click "Start" and Chatter will search for top stories, then begin the podcast by introducing the stories to you.

  3. Discuss whatever interests you most with Chatter to create your podcast!

  4. Remember that you can interrupt Chatter at any time to give your input, make a joke or suggest that you move on to a new subject.

Note that while Chatter doesn't save your podcasts, you can easily record your sessions with your own software. We had a ton of fun testing this one, and we hope you do too.
