Last week, OpenAI shared that the ChatGPT Store is now available. It's a special place where users can discover custom GPTs made by creators for specific purposes. Love in the 21st century is becoming digital, and now Cupid's arrow seems to be paired with a processing chip. What's next? Virtual heartbreaks, perhaps? It might happen soon, as the GPT store now features AI girlfriends.

While some find it intriguing, others might find it unsettling that OpenAI may not be pleased as their technology is being used to create AI girlfriends, going against the platform's rules.

According to a Quartz report, OpenAI's GPT Store is now filled with AI girlfriend bots. A quick search for the term "girlfriend" on the new GPT store yields results with various AI chatbots like "Korean Girlfriend," "Virtual Sweetheart," "Your girlfriend Scarlett," and "Your AI girlfriend, Tsu."

The report mentions that engaging with one of these bots, such as "Virtual Sweetheart," prompts questions like:

• People remain the same despite the introduction of new technology

This isn't the first instance of a conversational chatbot being utilised for such purposes. If you're familiar with the past, you might recall the early days of Siri and Google Assistant when people would pose various questions, including romantic and intimate ones, without realising that the data was being used to train models.

In 2018, Rishi Chandra, then VP of product management and general manager of Home Products, revealed during a voice-activated speaker launch event that Google Assistant had received 4.5 lakh marriage proposals from India.

Referring to data from mobile app analytics company data.ai, the report highlights that 7 out of the 30 AI chatbot apps downloaded by users in the US in 2023 from app stores were related to AI friends, girlfriends, or companions.

Here are five ways to use GPTs for brainstorming new ideas:

1. Storm of ideas - Let’s brainstorm ideas for [topic] by writing down as many ideas as you can, then I can build on them with related ideas. Structure your answer using markdown.

2. Mind Mapping - Prompt: “Please create a complete mind map for [topic] starting with a central concept and expanding outward with connected branches of related ideas.”

3. SWOT Analysis - “Let’s do a SWOT analysis on [topic] considering internal strengths/weaknesses and external opportunities/threats. Then write a conclusion to summarise.”

4. Analogy Thinking - [Topic] is like what? Identify an analogy, then brainstorm ideas based on properties of the analogy. Explain each idea that follows from this analogy.

5. Scenario Modelling - Imagine a best case scenario for [topic]: everything goes right. Now imagine a worst case scenario: everything goes wrong. Brainstorm ideas for each.
